Periodontal treatment focuses on the treatment of issues related to gum conditions and disease.

The two most well-known gum diseases are gingivitis and periodontitis. Gingivitis is the reversible, initial stage of gum disease characterized by inflamed and bleeding gums. If left untreated, it may lead to periodontitis. Periodontitis is a serious gum disease that causes gum and bone loss.
